Here is my second guitar. I got the box closed weekend before last and finished binding it last weekend.

And a shot from the front:

And for Serge, a shot of the end wedge:

I spent a little while each night after work scraping the binding. Its not perfect, but a real improvement over my first.

Thanks for looking!

Looks great Wayne!
Just something really nice about Flamed Maple over Indian. Great combo.

Hesh,

I bought some letters from Andy Depaule and inlayed them into a piece of HRW. It was a little practice for the inlay I want to do on the headstock.

Thanks everybody for the encouragment. Robbie, I am using your steel string dvd as a guide for this one. You will no doubt recognize the method I am using to glue up the bindings.

Looks great Wayne. I really like that rosette! What is that? A close-up maybe?

Wayne,

A very nice guitar. Your miters turned out great on that end wedge. Is it a sitka top?

Thank you Alain. The rosette is spalted maple from BobC. Its not the best picture, but here is a closer one.

The finish will be KTM-9 for the box and the head plate and tru-oil for the neck.

I'll be building on the neck this weekend. I still haven't made up my mind about the fingerboard yet. I have an ebony one and a HRW one. I was thinking that the ebony would look real nice bound with the flamed maple.

Yes, I think ebony bound with the flamed maple would look very good. Then again, anything that has flamed maple bindings is, dare I say it, 'bound' to look good... O.K. that was terrible.... Cheers...Alain Desforges38877.7397106482

Wayne,

Great combo. Looking at the back of your guitar, I said to myself (again) how much I like Indian rosewood. And I love it bound in curly maple.
Very easy on the eyes!

Steve

Steve,

This is my first guitar with EIR, and I really like the way it looks. I'll definitely be using it again.

This forum has been the best resource for finding materials. I got it from Steve at Colonial Tonewoods. The top is lutz spruce from Shane at High Mountain Tonewood.
