This next build is totally different. A Baritone Uke!!!
Everything is so little.
I have a customer that wants a baritione uke. I have never built a baritone
uke or any uke for that matter.
The only plans I have are for a tenor, so I am just adapting it.

This one is a gift from a collegue for her fathers retirement ceremony in
November. The kicker is it has to be nice because his retirement
ceremony is at the WHITE HOUSE!!!! He is a hi ranking officer, (0-7) I
think and he is currently assigned to the white house. He is very patriotic
so I am using good old high end Koa for the body, Red white and blue
purfling RWB around a pearl rosette.
I made a little mold....don't know if it was necessary
Hopefully it will be nice

You can also make Mexican requitos and Venezuelan cuatros with that body size. The difference is in the scale and # of strings.

Looks great Andy! Looks like you have the Hana Lima Tenor plans there. I've got them too but haven't built one yet. I started out small with sopranos and I'm going to work up. I've got a concert size in the mold and will be starting a tenor or baritone soon.

Have you braced the top yet? What pattern are you going with? What kind of strings have you chosen for it?

I was also asked to build a uke for a gentlman who is retiring soon. This is where it is today, and it has to be ready in about two weeks.

I am going with a traditional fan bracing, not Kasha
I just modified the Tenor plans as far as scale length, bridge position etc.
I also spoke to Tony Graziano a bit about Baritones.
John Mayes also gave me some advice.

That koa looks really nice. So did you just sort of scale up the tenor plan to get the body shape? I'm going to draw out the fret board and saddle to baritone scale and then more or less duplicate a typical baritone body shape.

What are you going to make the neck of? Is it going to be adjustable, or reinforced? I don't think reinforcement is required for the smaller ukes I've been building, but I've been adding a small CF bar as insurance. I've been thinking that CF neck reinforcement would be sufficient for tenor and baritone ukes too.

That soprano I showed has my most ambitious inlay work to date. I originally planned to try some rope trim and binding on it, but I chickened out this time. I've got another koa soprano started which is not spoken for that I feel safer experimenting on.
