I was digging through an old stash of wood and came across some Yaka (Dacrydium Nidulum) that I bought about 30 years ago when I was in school in California. It came from Fiji, and is a beautiful redish brown with black ink lines. Even the sap wood (not usually a fan) is beautiful, kind of a silvery gray. I built a piece of furniture with it years ago and loved the look. It is fairly light, about like Mahogany and has no pores. So, has anyone (calling members in Australia and New Zealand) built with this? Any information would be appreciated.

I've never hear of Yaka--but what a great name!
That's the kind of stuff I'd like to have around just because of the name. I'd try it for sure.

I have seen it but have not tried it. Marc Culbertson at Gilmer has had it at various times, usually coming in with shipments of other regional woods.

I've never heard of it either but your decription makes it sound beautiful.Do you have Any pics. of it Paul?
