First of all...the name is misleading. The Indiana Fiddlers' Gathering features all kinds of acoustic string music. Jazz, old time, folk, blues...it's all there.
My kids group,
The Key Strummers will be opening the Saturday afternoon set and performing again on Sunday. The group performs on ukulele (of course) and plays Indiana rural jazz (Hoosier Hot Shots and the like). We've got an incredible slap bass player (14 yrs. old). It would be worth coming just to see her slap.
My daughters and I will be teaching uke workshops on Sunday morning at 9:30 am. We'll be covering beginner and intermediate levels.
I will have my field shop set up. I will be building a nice, basic, mahogany soprano uke and finishing up another made of native woods (sycamore, black walnut and cherry).
The jams are great and some will go all night (not mine!). It's truly a great time.
The concert line-up is first class. Check it out
here.
I hope to see OLF folks. Stop by and chat..
