Never heard of it, but I'd be concerned about the brass stripping the thread on the aluminum if tightened too much. Interesting design though.

Very interesting design, it looks like it would only bend one way (hard to tell if that nut is locked on a lip or something)...

Something like that would be great in a thin neck, I might just need to buy it and figure out how it works

This seller also has a steel one of the same design. I would feel the aluminum would strip easy. They sell a lot of stuff they claim they got from a German lutherie shop. So maybe this is a German design.

Maybe it's designed to be removeable.   Pull it out and turn it upside down to reverse direction.

I would think so. I have tried to find info on the web about this rod but I couldn't find any.
