I just tried to post a couple of images in my post about the Malaysian
blackwood....I, apparently, have no idea how to do that!!! All that came up
were the references to the two files, at the end of my message.

How does one go about posting the images so they show up in the post? (I
feel kinda dumb....)

Kathy, in the post section, click on the picture of the tree with the up arrow. You can then upload your picture to the site and it will embed in your post. The pictures need to be less than 150K.

scroll down to where your replying to a post and click on the blue link that
says "forum codes" that will show you. Or you can use the little button that
shows a tree and an up arrow to upload an image here, without having to
have your own hosting.

That's what I did, two times now -- I did click that button, then hit the
"Browse" button on the "Image Upload" window that pops up. I chose my
two files, but still nothing happened. All it does is put some references to
my two photos at the end of my message. No photos show up. What am I
doing wrong?

I will try again.....

Hi Kathy, as was said above, select the green up arrow and the little tree icon for an image upload. 150 KB max. What kind of files do you have?

Plus... if these pics are already on the web, you may simply reference the location with the tree icon, which is an http:// reference and will load the pic into the thread as it is viewed from the third party host.

Kathy, I think they must be .jpg images, also. check what type of file it is, you might have to convert it to .jpg.

Hey, all --- I finally did get it to work --- I'm not quite sure why --- the
only thing I can figure out is that it seems as if you have to make sure to hit
the [Return] and put the cursor on a new line (where it says "[IMG]"). That's
the only way I got it to work.

A "star", huh? I'm not so sure I'd say that. I think the appeal of my site is
that it's not intimidating to people just starting out, because I show all my
mistakes (and there are plenty of those), yet things still turn out okay. I still
feel quite the amateur, compared to everyone else here and elsewhere, and
am always surprised when people email me with questions, thinking I know
a lot more than I actually do!!!

Kathy, I think the "Amateur" in the title to your website makes you seem much more approachable, and is one of the reasons that many builders starting out feel that they can write for advice. The fact that they then get a polite answer to their question, just adds to the image. The one-to-one relationship is also far less daunting than plunging into a forum like this one for the less confident.

Thanks Colin for describing so well what probably most of us newbs had a hard time expressing, what you wrote is so true that i can now lay it to rest for either Kathy, Mario and Charlie Hoffmann and can now see them as just great ordinary people just like us instead of "stars" which probably make them uncomfortable at times especially when you know how humble they are.

I love looking at your site. This is my first summer as a teacher, so
looking at your summer projects has a completely different appeal to me
now (i.e. wondering if you get desperately bored, too).

Thanks, everybody, for all the kind words -- it really makes my day! Just
thought I'd let you all know that, if you've been reading the "Mixing back
and side woods" thread, I just now finished bending the Indian rosewood
sides. The jig I made up (seen somewhere in this forum) really worked
like a charm!!! (Of course, the rosewood is always pretty easy to bend
anyway.) I'm letting it all sit until later on tonight before I see how it all
turned out....

Hey Kathy

Unofficially, yes. I still need to pass part of the CSET for single subject
english, but I spent last semester as a special assistant to the vice
principal of an at-risk elementary school. I spent the day interacting
students, going to classrooms when students were acting up, and doing
discipline light discipline like detention and home calls. I'd also cover
classes when teachers needed to do special training and generally tried to
play with the students at recess. I'll be getting my credential in single
subject english, but my goal is to be a vice principal.

I hate the summer so far. So bored! Although I've been doing light
freelance work, completing some last websites.
