Larry,

Here is one of my Creation inlays. I did a series of 25 guitars, all with different woods and appointments with this inlay as their centerpiece.

Some are in Japan, Europe, South America and Canada, but most have stayed here in the US.

This my favorite in the "Creation Series". It is an all Koa MJ with Maple bindings and Abalone top purfling and belongs to a good friend and customer in New Jersey who owns five or six of my guitars.

Regards,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars
I say all that to reveal the true depth of help that was offered by the OLF members who donated woods to the project when other forums mocked the cause, ignored the project or even pulled my post regarding it after commenting that it was an effort in self service or promotion for me.

Every major publication has ignored it so far. A few people have emailed me saying that they've emailed folks at a few with no reply. it's not about the guitar or about the fact that it's an Omega Guitar, but about trying to raise a little awareness of the project and cause it was conceived and created to benefit....and we need to rememeber that young kids that are AIDS infected are the underlying reason for the existence for the cause.
Kevin,

It is saddening to hear that you have meet with such resistance from other sources, for such a worthwhile cause. The problem is real, and your desire to help is very inspiring. It makes me feel proud to be a member of the OLF, and the great community here that can look past themselves for the sake of others.

Let us know what else we can do to help!

Jeff

Kevin, the lion turned out absolutely superb! I recall you struggling with what to inlay to keep within the African theme and something that would still have broad appeal. Well you sure nailed it from my perspective!

Well Kevin, I for one applaud you and your motivation for making this guitar! My family and I have been fortunate enough to visit Nairobi and some of the surrounding area when we had close missionary friends there. It captured my heart and my wife's and we plan to do mission work there as well one day when the day comes. I wish I could write you a check for this guitar right now! I'd love to own it and I'd be proud of where the $$ went, but unfortunately (or maybe not!) God is using my airline as a means to test and grow me in the area of finances right now...I'll watch the auction and wish you the best in this honorable endeavor! PS...the Koa MJ is beautiful!

I have a Brother who is a pastor/missionary in Kenya, in a very remote area so as I have been watching the guitar evolve and the time get closer, it evokes thoughts and stories of Africa.

I come from a long line (400 years+) of ministers and missionaries so this guitar is both beautiful and inspirational.

I had an Aunt and Uncle who died last year (within 4 months of each other) who had been missionaries in Africa for over 50 years. When they first went in the 1930's they were asked to leave their 2 year old infant son with relatives as Africa was called the missionaries graveyard with more diseases without treatment then than now.

The AIDS epidemic is so bad in Africa that most of the continent will lose an entire generation, with the children being the most effected.

Everything that is done to help others, be it small or grand is much needed and ultimately makes a difference.

Kevin, and all that donated materials to help, I admire and greatly respect what you have done and the spirit in which it is being done. Kevin, I will keep you and your group in my thoughts and prayers.

Great guitar, stunningly executed.

having a hard time expessing how I feel towards this inlay.. its pure ...utter... hmm well amazing, but thats not enough.. its is incredible. i am awestruck by it.. I keep going back and looking at it..
was it difficult to make the eyes appear as thought they were both looking in the same direction. It is in carving, but I don't know about inlay... wow...wait I have to go look again.. wow...

Great idea Mike, we'll have to ask Rod True to make an add on! I second that thought!

Kevin, i wish you the biggest amount of money for this masterpiece and may the children get all the care they need, you are still in my prayers too.
