Looks like youve sliced the end off a redgum railway sleeper.

Is it something from Tims zoot pile?

No Martin, it's not Red Gum and it's not from Tim.

Well Colin, the way I have the dred template placed above I think it looks a little like Munch's painting, "the scream" what do you think?

Its scarier than Munch's painting.....youre going to have to make up a
special guitar case with an appropriate warning sign on the outside.

Looking forward to seeing this 'Munch guitar" when its finished

Martin, it may be scary with the template showing the scream, but it is absolutely terrifying with it swung the other way round, no popping of the grain this time but...I like to call it.... "The Matron" I got tears rolling down my face, sorry Lance, I just can't help me self

Cheers all

Is this some trick question?! Is this an Aussiewood we've never heard of? Can't be Acacia...right?

It's a very pretty piece of wood whatever it is...Don Williams38900.3214699074

No Don no trick, I am sure most have heard of it. It is one class of zoot that sounds even better than it looks so that is rare. It could be one of the Acacia family but it is defiantly not a eucalyptus.

All jokes aside though, I would really like to know which way round everyone prefers the pattern??? Your collective opinions would be most valued my friends.

Cheers

Kim

Kim - no clue as to what kind of Zoot it is.

I prefer the second photo in terms of placement of the pattern.

Pic 2 - I like the way the grain lines pinch at the waist, and how the lighter 'focus your eye on this' section is in the lower bout, surrounded by more darker wood. Tht whole middle interesting section mimics the guitar body shape.

Kim, I don't know what kind of wood it is, but it is a good looking set indeed. I like the way it is placed in Photo #2.

Pic 2 looks nicer to me too. Too bad about all the funny colors in there though.
