Todd, I would welcome some historical details myself.
Yours is executed very well, but looks a bit narrower at the base than my Martin. I've got a Custom Shop 00, with the slotted head and the "dart" volute. It's wider than yours. But let me say again, yours is done quite nicely.

Todd, job well done on the volute!My first had a smile but i'm almost there on no 2 since i carved my neck tonight and want to do a volute so count me in for the interestees!

That's beautiful, Todd. I love the looks of a slotted headstock. Hate to change strings on them, but love the look. Nicely executed workmanship.

This is what I have been doing lately with the transition area to the peghead. Not a completely authentic Martin style but similar.

I've become quite fond of small-bodied guitars, and the OO is my favorite of them all.

I've been working on one for awhile now for a friend (slowly...very slowly...I'm retired after all).
It has a redwood top, EIRW back & sides, with herringbone trim. 25.4" scale. I have yet to decide whether to do a solid headstock or a slotted one. Yours looks very very nice, so it's very tempting for me to try one. I'd also like to try one of those funky v-notched joints. They're cool!
