Very small perhaps, but I hope tommorrow to hook up, meet and visit with Steve Kinnaird down in Nacogdoches "Oldest Town in Texas". I have to be down tommorrow to do my annual speech to the Master Gardeners Club about Water gardens and I am planning to go by and meet the man and see his cool stuff.

Really looking forward to it, and I will bring my trusty Digital and post some photos of the momentus occassion (for me)if all goes as planned.

We may broach the subject do a little planning for an OLF "Rumble in the Jungle" Extravaganza!, so the guys in the South who can't go to BobC can get together.

Thanks

Mike

Hmmm, how far is Nacogdoches from OKC anyway? And our buddy Bruce is just around the corner in Arkiesaw, maybe he could make it as well. This "rumble in the jungle" sounds like a good thing to me. Oh yeah, John Mayes and Scooter both live within a half hour or so from me as well.

I'd love it. But my vacation is over, nose to the grindstone. Gotta make hay guys. IF I had another brother, I'd want him to be just like Steve. So talented. Okay, I'm up for the pics, though. Can we do this virtually and vicariously?

Hey Nacha- Naco- er, whatever -- is just up the road a piece from me. Course, "just up the road a piece" in Texas can often span most of New England. Nonetheless, I am all in favor of a gathering amongst OLFers down in these parts.

Best,

Michael

Jeff--that's the problem we're facing living in this continental country. It's just too big. I'd love to go to BobC's, but having just returned from flying to Seattle, I'm pretty broke, and can't justify another long trip. Well... the wife can't justify it.

Why don't we meet at Bruce Dickey's?
He is more or less centrally located to those in the South / Southwest, plus his shop is so clean we can eat off the floors. Plus, he's broke, too. I bet if we met at his place, he could come?

And Bruce---what a nice thing to say. I'd be honored to be your bro. Thank you!

Steve

Hey Mike,
I'm planning on coming to the seminar tomorrow.
If I can nail down the particulars.

See you tomorrow,

SK

Cool--regional OLF gatherings! The EU guys should have one, too! The Aussies would have to work harder to have one, though--their island is vast and empty. Anyway, everybody could post pictures and we all can have a vicarious OLF party!

Hey I am up for a 30 minute drive to hook up with John and Dave! Lets set something up.

Of course the fact that I will be building by first ABG and cut my last solid body bass of flamed maple with a jig saw (many many blades) and a router have nothing to do with my motivation.....

I have picked up some more tools since then but experienced friends with access to the occasional tool work you don't have are always welcome.

Hey Bruce, would you be up for a shop visit by a wannabe-luthier and his girlfriend on Sept 13 (wednesday)? I think we're going to see Sufjan Stevens in Little Rock the night before, so I'll be passing by on my way there and back. Though, this little roadtrip may turn into a carload of people in which case I'd probably postpone the shop visit.

I'd love to visit some of you OKC area guys sometime, too, I usually make it there a couple times a year to go to concerts.

(I'm in the Northwest corner of Arkansas in case anyone's counting)

We were thinking the gathering would be sometime in October. This is before the holiday season starts and everyone starts getting busy. This is also by far the prettiest time of the year at the Ranch here in Northeast Texas if we go in that direction.

I'm interested in hearing more about this! Bruce's place would be ideal for me, but I love East Texas, too.

Jon, Sure thing.

It's always fun to visit with fellow luthiers. Few and far between these parts. Probably have more luck getting together a pair moonshiners than another luthier.

Yet another reason to have the meeting at Bruce's?

(Just kidding, you know....)

Hi, Matt and welcome to the OLF!!!   Yea, another Arkansas!!   The OLF's quality just keeps rising.   Where are you located? I'm in Beebe, about 30 miles north of Little Rock. I've been meaning to go see Bruce too, but I haven't made the time yet.

Looks like the Sufjan concert won't be happening in Little Rock... Still would love to visit sometime.

Ron and Bruce,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I live in White Hall, which is about 30 miles south of Littlerock. And I'm definitely interested in lutherie.
