Is F.A.S: Fiancee Aquisition Syndrome

I popped the question on Sunday (after talking to her father of course) and Dawn said "Yes!" So, there is no more money until the ring is paid off. Then the real expensive stuff comes. She is an awesome woman who understands my obsession with all thing stringed and even supports it. But, I won't be able to buy much anytime soon. Oh, well, I suppose the trade off is worth it...

Great news Joe. Early marriage poverty is some of the best times of your life. Enjoy it.
I look back 15 years ago and we were $6k under the national poverty level. But somehow we were doing great, even saving a good sum of money. You just have to be creative with what you spend your money on.
then again, I didn't have this expensive habit then. Oh, that would have been ugly.

Thanks all! Hesh, I agree with Andy's advice (at least I let her think it), except for when she's driving.
yeah it's harder for women to smack us when they are driving.....
Go easy Hesh, women do get better with pratice....at smacking whilst driving that is By the time they got kids, they can not only pilot a car through peak hour with the deft hand of an old pro, they can do so whilst simultaneously delivering a cracking backhander, with pin point accuracy, to all areas within the given vehicle, no where is safe

Oh yeah...sorry Joe, congrats mate, all the best to you and your lady

Cheers

Congratulations Joe. I didn't get married until 45 but the old saying that 2 can live as cheap as 1 does have merit. Regardless, the rewards of marriage far outnumber any difficulties you may be anticipating. Never underestimate the power of a team as opposed to an individual.

Congratulations...Life starts after you get married...every else was just preparing you for it.

I remember when my wife and I got engaged (24 years ago) that our minister asked us if there was any thing like bills that needed to be worked off or other things hanging over our heads that it would be easier to get out of the way before getting married so that we could have a clean start...

I replied, "Well I have this batch of 6 classical guitars that I have orders for that I really need to finish so I can get the rest of my money" to which he said "then the waist you need to be holding for the next several weeks needs to be those guitars so get back to building!" I did not rush them but there was a greater sense of urgency about that batch than any other I have done since.

So now when ever I am starting a new batch the joke between my wife and I is that she will ask me, "Is that that same batch of guitars I had to wait for?' to which I reply, "no but I have to keep on building another batch so I dont forget to appreciate what I worked so hard for..."

At some point you will come up against HAS as well.... And the bigger the HAS, the more trouble it can be.

Hesh has a little HAS...or WAS that HAVE... I'm getting confussed. I'm sure the acronym police will be along shortly.Rod True38918.0568518518

I sold my E-type Jaguar to get married 30+ years ago. Still miss that Jaguar .

Mind you if my father hadn't sold his 35B Bugatti in 1936, I wouldn't be here.

Congratulations! Marriage is a great thing and I have been married now for 34 years to the same beautiful girl. However, If I find myself ever single again I think I will go with the Lease, with the Option to buy program.

Good Luck
