Jeannne,

Welcome! Good to have you here.

Whatever you end up building, please be advised that one of the things we all seem to like is pictures of a project's progress, as well as the final result.

Madame Jeanne, vous etes la bienvenue!

From what i've read in your last post, you seem to be driven by the same passion we all have here, this is a beautiful dream you're gonna be living and i'm proud to be here with you and all our friends to witness the progress you'll be making. Brace yourself, great moments await you, we'll also be there to cheer you up in the tough times also!

What is your first project by the way Jeanne?

Best regards

Serge

Monsieur Serge, Je ne suis epouse, je suis veuve. Mais la madame est bien. Etes-vous la "grande ourse du nord"?

I am very excited and yet really apprehensive about the actual launch of this journey! I appreciate the kind words of encouagement from you and Hesh. You both don't know how much that means to me.

Currently I have not given too much thought to woods and possible combinations let alone style. I am concentrating on getting my bearings on tools, set-up, and such, but perhaps knowing WHAT I want to do and obtaining plans and materials is a better start.

Any advice?

Welcome Jeanne to the OLF!

You are getting some good advice from Hesh and the folks here on getting started and which direction to go. I have never built with a Kit, but think it is definitely the way to go. Hesh has given you a great write up on those available.

Great to have you join us and good luck!

Looks very good my friend!

I'm very anxious to hear what you think about a guitar top glued with HHG compared to AR, so chop chop!!! You use Adi brace stock as well, eh?

So how was the HHG experience?

...

Yup, I had to adapt when switching over to HHG as well, if you'll recall my great glue debacle story...
Luckily for us, it cleans up like nothing else...

That's pretty cool that Lacey helped you out. You guys will be able to glue the top/back to the rims with the HHG and probably have time to spare!

So, who won the fencing match?

Chere Mademoiselle Jeanne, La Grande Ourse, mon epouse, se porte a merveille merci! Papa Bear is doin' fine also! Thanks!

Any advice? Oooooh yeah! I would differ a bit from my good pal Hesh in the sense that i started from scratch and alone at my first build and just loved it but the results were not there in terms of aesthetics, i lacked the woodworking skills cruely. The soundbox was not bad at all for the sound but it doesn't compare whatsoever with guitar no 2 which was done also from scratch and with the help of our great friends of the OLF, this time. But that's me, i love to take long roads and learn the hard way and no 1 sure helped as being my "school" to understand what i was doing on no 2!

I don't regret anything at all but i'd suggest a kit for your first if you are in the same position i was in when i started, depending on your budget or your own will, i know something Jeanne, if your will is as strong as mine was, your decision to go for a kit or scratch building will sure be applauded and respected by all of us so one more thing... GO FOR IT!

Serge the Bear!

Je suis content tout est bien dans la maison de l'Ours de Papa. Je regarde en avant a rencontrant le deux de vous un jour. Je n'ai pas ete a la province de Quebec dans 35 ans. Je le prends il est encore la

Thanks Serge, I will take all you have written here into deep consideration. Copied to file!

When I do go "live" it will be solo in the sense that I will have no one peering over my shoulder. But, I know that my support system, my mentors will be everyone at OLF

Are you all ready for that?????

Serge, I'm counting on you to "forum" me through this!

Hesh? Hesh sounds really unique! He sits around in his shorts building guitars in his bathroom. Quick - call Guinness as I'm sure we can get him in that book for something!

Now if he could just get that sofa in there with him. Hmmm...someone would just have to drop by every so often and toss in some zoot. Just kidding Hesh

Hesh was the first person to welcome me to OLF, so he'll always be okie-dokie in my book!

Jeanne you are more than welcome to our home in the Outaouais region if you make it to the Quebec Province, yup, it's still here!

Being a teacher means you are far more accustomed to read than some of us, however, from time to time you will encounter some difficulties that will have you forced to ask questions that will seem silly for you but nonetheless, ask them, there are no stupid questions here, we all know how difficult it is when we start, so ask them all, we are here to help one another!

Great suggestion! The most guitars built in a lavatory--in the history of the world!!!

Beware, though, there are stupid answers (my name is beside many of them )!
