Bending cocobolo

Help Please I just bent my first set of cocobolo and it bent great but it came out of the bender nasty looking very dark even though I kept it below 300. Is there somthing I can use to clean the resin off of the sides?
They are already at .085 so I not wanting to sand it any more.I used stainless steel slats and two blankets.
I've used Ir and Pau Ferro in the past and did not have any problems.

leave it til you are ready to bind, then give it a light scrape - it will all come off pretty easily. Happens with cocobolo gold all the time ... lots of resins in there.

A little sanding or scraping will brighten it up, at least that's what worked for me. .085 doesn't sound dangerously thin.

Use paper next time to catch the resin. Acetone will dissolve the baked on resin as Lance mentions.

One caution to woods such as these in the bender. Wear a charcoal respirator to avoid breathing the fumes. If the dust is bad, it's just possible the vapors are bad too.

Read the warnings on Osmose or Wolmanized treated deck lumbers. They advise to quickly wash off skin contact with dust. They also advise not burning the refuse material and breathing the fumes. My thoughts are the same for Cocobolo and many other exotics.

Todd, that's one of the nicest cutaway bends I've ever seen. Also, that's one of the nicest rosettes I've ever seen. Also, that's one of the prettiest tops I've ever seen. Got any shots of the guitar put together? bd

No need for acetone. That scorched resin sands off easily. You need to sand anyway.
