Hello all,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking around here for a number of years and finally joined. I'm sure I have met some of you at the 2009 and/ or 2013 A.S.I.A. symposiums.

Below are a few pictures of my #2 which I finished recently. It has a long tenon neck, which extends just past the bridge. It's a tribute to three of my favorite Texas guitarists - Billy Gibbons, Jimmie Vaughan and SRV. A friend from work who has an original '58 burst played it last week and thinks it plays and sounds amazing, so I definitely feel good about that! Unfortunately, I lost my shop access when my cousin (a cabinet maker) passed away, so I was not able to spray the finish myself, as I did for #1. That being said, many thanks to Brian Howard for the fine finish job!

Oops, forgot the question. I had to move the bridge saddle close to all of the way back for proper intonation. The bridge placement is right on with the spec listed on Stew Mac's website. I guess my question is, if I use a different bridge on #3 (the same design as #2), should I trust the measurements they list? I think that i was 1/8" short of what would have been ideal for bridge placement with this hardtail bridge. Any advice? Thank you in advance for your help.

I have found the measurements on the Stew-Mac calculator to be accurate about 50% of the time. You'll have much better luck setting the saddles to the middle of their range and placing the bridge so your string length is the scale length plus 1/8".

Well, if you look a little closer, the Reverend is playing SRV's Number 1 and the truss rod cover has a spade inlay with Jimmie's initials (in the style of his initials on the Out There album art, if I remember correctly)

It sounds unbelievable! The sustain is great, so I'd like to think that can be attributed to the design with the long-tenon neck. Sounds really good unplugged, and the Pearly Gates P/Us really complement everything well. The PG's would probably sound good screwed to a 2x4 though!

Thats really an amazing looking instrument.... especially for a #2.... no pun intended...

I like everything about it. The inlay and finish are killer.
Yep, Steven is right on for locating the bridge. Measuring from the nut to a mounting hole is silly.
I might add, if using a Gibson 24-3/4 scale, measure from nut to 12th fret and multiply by 2 to get the actual scale length. Gibson used several different scales referred to as 24-3/4.
